How This Calculator Works (Diffuser Method)

This calculator is for the Diffuser Method (gas injection via diffuser into the sump or tank). It assumes typical real-world dissolution efficiency of ~3–4% with basic diffusers. A separate calculator will be released for the Closed-Loop Circulation Method, which will use significantly higher dissolution assumptions.

Assumptions & Notes

  • Baseline: ~100 gal saltwater at 300 ml/min reaches ~0.3 ppm with roughly 120 minutes of actual gas delivery.
  • Real-world dissolution with basic diffusers is low (~3–4%). Most H₂ off-gasses. Optimized reactors or the future Circulation Method will improve this.
  • H₂ is ~15% less soluble in saltwater than freshwater.
Runtime & Ventilation: These pulse schedules support extended daily use. Active cabinet ventilation is recommended when running more than 6–8 hours per day for best performance and safety.
